Flat Roofs vs Sloped Roofs

There’s a lot of different roofing style and material options out there. When you are interested in buying a new roof, you should go over each one with your contractor to ensure you make the right decision. Certain broad styles generally serve different purposes. Here, we’ll go over two roofing styles: flat roofs vs sloped roofs.

Sloped:

Sloped roofs are what you usually find on a residential home. Their biggest benefit is that their sloping directs water off of the roof, preventing pooling that could cause damage.

Flat:

These roofs usually get used for commercial applications. While called flat roofs, they actually do have a slight slope for the same reason sloped roofs do. They benefit from extra space on top, which could potentially be used fro storage or a roof mounted HVAC system.
